Argentum: Contemporary Silverpoint

Friday, October 18 – Wednesday, November 20, 2019

Pivoting from 2017’s “Argentum: Contemporary Silverpoint” at Manhattan’s Marbury NYC to travel to Hillsdale College, “Argentum” explores the revival of the anachronistic medium of silverpoint by contemporary artists. Silverpoint requires fastidious draftsmanship as artists use a stylus with no erasure. Within the ethereal confines of the medium, the artists employ a diversity of concepts, narratives, and approaches within their drawings only matched by the diversity of both their creative and cultural backgrounds.

Heather in Black by Tom Root
Tom Root: Painted Conversations

Wednesday, February 26 – Wednesday, March 25, 2020

This show centers on a group of intimate portraits of the artist’s friends and family. These are non-commissioned works, painted for pleasure from live sittings over the course of many studio visits and enjoyable conversations. These conversations were paralleled by dialogues between painter and canvas, as the works themselves developed their independent voices.
